About The Hotel
Mining Exchange Hotel was built in 1902 as a stock exchange for local mining companies, The Mining Exchange Hotel offers a one-of-a-kind experience in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs. Our elegant, yet casual public spaces, and guestrooms are all newly renovated.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the analysis of the accounting and financial activities of the organization, monitoring for efficiencies and inefficiencies, data quality and reporting to contribute to the organization’s financial growth.
- Check figures, postings, and documents for accuracy.
 - Organize, secure, and maintain all files, records, cash and cash equivalents in accordance with policies and procedures.
 - Complete period-end closing procedures and reports as specified.
 - Document, maintain, communicate, and act upon all cash variances.
 - Prepare, maintain, and administer all cashier banks and contracts.
 - May handle the accounts’ receivable function and perform the hotel's credit/collection and food & beverage control function to ensure accurate, timely and quality service and support to hotel guests and management.
 - Prepare, review, and reconcile daily postings, accruals, various general ledger accounts and bank statements to ensure accurate financial information is available.
 - Compile, prepare, back-up and analyze various financial reports and statements to provide accurate, timely information to guests, management, corporate and ownership.
 - Compile, prepare, back-up and analyze period-end data on food and beverage costs and inventories (gift shop where applicable) to provide information and recommendations to management on current procedures and controls. Assist with the preparation of cost potential as required.
 - Other duties as assigned.
 
Basic Qualifications & Skills
- High school or equivalent education required.
 1–3 years of experience with General Ledger, Journal Entries, and a supervisory lens.
A strong command of Excel (think pivot tables, VLOOKUPs—not just formatting).
Next-level analytical skills. You don’t just find errors—you solve the mystery behind them.
A heart for accuracy, a head for process, and hands that hustle.
Experience working across departments and understanding the full flow of hospitality revenue is a plus.
- Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
 - Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
 - Prior experience with Microsoft Office Suite and other financial systems.
 - Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the finance and hospitality professions.
 - Requires excellent computer and cash handling skills.
 - Requires ability to investigate and analyze current activities or information and indicate logical conclusions and recommendations and make decisions based on established policies and procedures.
 - Must be flexible regarding scheduling based on business demands.
 - Ability to perform critical analysis and manage a wide range of information.
 - Successful completion of criminal background check.
 
Desired Qualifications & Traits
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree, preferred in Accounting/Finance or Business Administration.
 - Previous experience with Opera Cloud and/or Accounting system preferred.
