About The Opportunity
We are seeking a dependable and skilled Engineer to join the team at the Mining Exchange Hotel. This role is essential in maintaining the overall functionality, safety, and appearance of the property, ensuring a seamless and high-quality experience for both guests and team members.
As an Engineer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and repair of hotel systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building upkeep. You will respond promptly to guest and operational requests, troubleshoot issues efficiently, and complete preventative maintenance tasks to keep the property operating at its best.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and takes pride in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment. You should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving skills and a guest-first mindset. Prior experience in hotel or commercial building maintenance is highly preferred.

About The Hotel
Mining Exchange Hotel was built in 1902 as a stock exchange for local mining companies, The Mining Exchange Hotel & Spa offers a one-of-a-kind experience in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs. Our elegant, yet casual public spaces and guestrooms are all newly renovated.
Job Role
The Engineer is responsible for installation, maintenance and repair of equipment ensuring functionality that meets all required quality standards, resulting in maximum operating time and customer satisfaction. These systems include, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); lighting; waste management; security and fire protection. The Engineer responds promptly to maintenance requests and emergency situations while maintaining high operational and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to and handle guest and team member maintenance requests in a courteous, efficient, and safe manner.
- Perform preventive maintenance and necessary repairs on hotel equipment and systems, including HVAC, plumbing, boilers, electrical systems, kitchen and laundry equipment, pools, and guest rooms.
- Conduct daily inspections and routine rounds of the property to ensure all systems and equipment are operating properly.
- Operate, monitor, and maintain boiler, chiller, cooling tower, domestic hot and cold-water systems, and electrical switch gear systems.
- Install, maintain, and repair climate control, lighting, fire protection, and security systems, including associated backup systems.
- Complete maintenance work orders, equipment readings, meter logs, and shift communication logs accurately and timely.
- Document maintenance actions, equipment irregularities, and repairs requiring follow-up or monitoring.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safe working conditions in engineering spaces, maintenance shops, and assigned work areas.
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations including fire alarms, power failures, disasters, and other safety incidents; notify appropriate authorities when necessary.
- Assist with parking lot maintenance, snow removal, and exterior property upkeep as needed.
- Perform special projects, facility improvements, and additional duties assigned by management.
- Adhere to all safety policies, preventive maintenance schedules, and company operational standards.
- Work collaboratively and professionally with management, team members, vendors, and guests.
Basic Qualifications & Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in general maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, or electrical system maintenance preferred.
- Ability to successfully complete a criminal background check.
- Availability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and varied shifts as operationally required.
- Strong troubleshooting and hands-on maintenance skills.
- Knowledge of workplace safety standards and maintenance procedures.
